The workshop was held on the weekend of 14 & 15 Feb and was attended by about 30 NT members and 15 visitors. Liam explained his demonstrations in some detail, showing how he removed large quantities of wood or achieved various fine finishes with his 'Irish ground' gouges.
He later went through the selection of gouge profile for best effect and its grinding to the required shape.
The demonstrations included two bowls, two platters and a small lidded vessel, as well as a couple of spinning tops and he demonstrated the basic processes for making a sculpture.
Interspersed with the demonstrations, there were slide shows of his life and achievements, including the story of the 2006 Peace Bowl that helped change the course of Irish history.
he also gave a slideshow presentation on the basics of large scale turnings using his concrete lathes and chainsaw cutting.
