Southern Turners

Southern Turners is a woodworking club for people of all skill levels with an interest in woodturning.  Members have the use of wood working facilities including school and club wood lathes.  At 1:00pm we hold a business meeting, followed by Show & Tell session.  This latter activity displays members efforts, finished or unfinished, good or with mistakes.  Questions and helpful discussion on improvement and finishing usually results.

After a short tea break, the topic for the afternoon is presented by a guest or an in house speaker.  Recent areas covered have included display of vintage hand drills, finishing , dowel cutting, fancy off-centre turning, time pieces,, pens, hollowing out tools, old hand planes, sanding and inside turning.

Members also demonstrate their craft & skills a various public shows during the year, and we actively support the Woodgroup at the Adelaide Timber & Working With Wood Show.

Meetings are held on the first Saturday of each month (except December & January) from 10:30am to 4:00pm at the Aberfoyle Park High School Tech Studies Area.  For more information contact Mel Pearce or Nick Tebneff, whose details can be obtained by emailing the Webmaster.
